Nestled in the heart of Key West at 713 Caroline Street, Funky Rooster Coffee House & Wine Bar is an eclectic haven where the rich aromas of expertly brewed coffee mingle with the vibrant notes of a carefully curated wine selection. Functioning as a unique blend of coffee shop, wine bar, and gift shop, this local gem offers a distinctive experience that elevates your typical coffee or wine outing into something special and refreshingly personal.

As you step inside, the cozy ambiance envelopes you—a warm, intimate space perfect for unwinding with close friends or savoring a quiet moment alone. The owners have masterfully crafted an atmosphere that feels both inviting and genuine, striking the rare balance between a bustling local hangout and a serene retreat. It’s easy to see why visitors like Adamalthus describe Funky Rooster as “the perfect example of what a local coffee shop and wine bar should be," praising its flawless execution and outstanding service.

The menu is a delightful marriage of comforting coffeehouse classics and sophisticated wine bar offerings. Whether you’re craving a velvety cappuccino or an invigorating double espresso, the coffee here is exceptional—drawing nods from European visitors, like Baruch Friedman, who appreciate its authentic, family-run charm reminiscent of a genuine European café. If you have a sweet tooth, the pastries, such as the decadent Almond Croissant and the authentic Ukrainian-style Napoleon Cake, provide indulgence worthy of returning for again and again.

Funky Rooster’s wine list spans an array of thoughtfully selected bottles, perfectly paired with their delicious charcuterie and cheese plates. Imagine savoring a glass of lush, chilled wine alongside a beautifully arranged cheese plate while soaking in the intimate vibe of this small, private space—just as Dr Aneesh Zion notes, it’s an ideal spot to wind down after a long day.

Beyond beverages and bites, the shop offers an intriguing collection of eclectic retail items, inviting shoppers to explore while they sip. Ricky Hadaway’s experience captures this perfectly: discovering a treasure trove of unique gifts while enjoying the warm environment and beverage offerings made his first rainy day in Key West into a memorable experience worth repeating.

For tea lovers, the organic tea selection—from the soothing Lychee Green to the robust English Breakfast—is available hot or iced, with a choice of indulgent flavors like vanilla and hazelnut to customize your perfect cup. The inclusion of staples like Avocado Toast and refreshing Strawberry Banana Smoothies further cements Funky Rooster as a versatile spot catering to varied cravings any time of day.

Whether you’re after a lively vino-filled evening, a morning caffeinated jumpstart, or just a charming spot to immerse yourself in local culture and creativity, Funky Rooster Coffee House & Wine Bar is a singular Key West destination that invites you to slow down, savor, and return time and again.

Great wind down evening coffee . They got both coffee and wine at the same place. Small private space for a small group. Cool place.

Finally a real coffee shop in the US! As we are coming from Europe, we could really appreciate the real feel and quality of a European coffee shop (this one is family run, probably with roots in Ukraine - one other reason to stop by and support them!) The desserts are very delicious and authentic (you should absolutely try the authentic Ukrainian style Napoleon cake!) The atmosphere is amazing, and the furniture is very homey and welcoming. The other guy in the review who complained they don't have "refills" and they're nothing like Starbucks - please do yourself a favour and go to Starbucks having their pee type coffee

What a find! I love the setting as it is very eclectic. The key lime pie was simple in a VERY good way: not too sweet or too tart. And the cafe con leche was very smooth and not too rich. The service was phenomenal. I am glad it is away from the tourist area, too.
